This song was inspired by Monette's daughter Nasira (Sira) Keita who fell in love with Funk music at an early age. “Sira” is a complex serving of a Funk flavored African sauce with Latin spice. The music is reflective of the influence African music/rhythms have had in America genres (Funk, Jazz, Blues) in addition to genres around the world. Add this song to your dance set list, it is a high energy, upbeat groove that promises to get your hips moving.

Monette Marino is a world percussionist. She spent the majority of the last 20 years studying under Master Drummer Mamady Keita from Guinea.
Prior to her involvement in West African percussion Monette studied folkloric and popular rhythms from Cuba, Brazil, and Korea.
She opened her own school of percussion called MO’RHYTHM and created an iOS App “MoRhythm-Africa" to learn Djembe & Dunun rhythms. ... more
